Brewster Homes - arial view of build location

Upon his return from World War II, long time resident of Eden, South Dakota, Stanley C. Brewster, along with his father-in-law Albert Gilbertson started Brewster and Gilbertson Lumberyard in 1949 in Eden, South Dakota.  The family business grew as an important resource for area residences who were in need of lumber, painting supplies and hardware.  In 1972 Stanley's son, Thomas C. Brewster opened another lumberyard, Brewster Building Center, Inc. in Sisseton, South Dakota.  And again, seeing an opportunity to expand their business Stanley and Thomas purchased an existing lumberyard in Clear Lake, South Dakota, naming it Clear Lake Building Center, Inc. in 1979.  The final addition to this family owned business was another purchase of an existing lumberyard in Milbank, South Dakota, in 1996, whereby adding another store to the Brewster Building Center, Inc. name.  in 2004, the Milbank location expanded its services to include a Ready-Built center, offering nearly finished homes for relocation.  The Brewster family has been active in the lumberyard business for over sixty years, spanning three generations.
